Today was Lukie's first day of Kindergarten. Real school. He was so proud in his uniform. He insisted on wearing his belt with his shirt tucked in. So much of his daddy in that boy. Of course, I took lots of pictures to scrapbook.
It really wasn't that traumatic for either of us. He is going to private kindergarten in the same place he went to pre-school. He has actually been in his class since June. Today was just the start of the regular school year.
I think I will have a much harder time with Jack. He's the youngest, you know.
Since Cole is out of town with his granddaddy, Gary and I had "date night" with each of the boys. Gary took Jack. I took Luke.
Lukie and I went to Congo River Golf. First we went through the McDonald's (I swear I think they put nicotine in their food to make kids beg to come back) drive-through and got dinner. We ate it on the picnic benches at the mini-golf place. Then we proceeded to play our game.
Luke is at that age where you can't tell him anything. He wouldn't let me show him how to hold the club. He wouldn't let me show him where to put the ball. Finally, I just let him do it his way and we had a great time. He played his game and my game, too. He told Gary and Jack that he "kicked my butt." Nice.
When we got home, we did homework! Yes, homework. Write each spelling word in a complete sentence. SIX spelling words. SIX sentences. OMG! So, you're thinking "wow, he can already read and write." No, no, no. He can write his letters. The rest - the parents have to "help" with. I deserve a gold medal in patience tonight. My head hurts, and my jaw hurts from grinding my teeth.
Can't wait until next week when I get to "help" with third grade homework, too.
Six sentences the first night of kindergarten! Change schools while you can!
