Holiday season is still going smoothly. Though I must say I am hitting a few minor bumps during the next few days.
I am chaperoning Luke's first grade field trip to the Orlando Museum of Art tomorrow. I wonder if they could have picked a worse time to do this. Perhaps the day before school is out. I mean, Luke (all of my boys) is just crazy with all the holiday happenings. Now I am going to go with 40 other crazy Lukes to a museum where they are supposed to be quiet and behave. Not to mention that I am losing precious shopping and Christmas card making time.
Luke's Kwanzaa celebration is on Friday. I thought Kwanzaa started in January. Anyway, first grade always has this celebration with food and the exchanging of homemade gifts. When Cole was in first grade, we made a bracelet with little wooden beads and charms for a little girl. When she got it, she cried. She wanted a drum like everyone else. (For some reason, when I told Gary this story, he almost rolled in the floor laughing) So this year, you know we are making a drum.
So okay, field trip Wednesday, make drum for Friday. Oh yeah, Cole's Christmas show is Thursday night. He is supposed to be an owl. He wants to be a brown owl. We have a gray t-shirt and gray sweatpants for a gray owl, but Cole wants to be a brown owl.
So okay, field trip Wednesday, make drum for Friday, figure out and make a brown owl costume for Thursday night. But the dress rehearsal is tomorrow. Sorry Cole, no dress rehearsal for you.
Can't forget that Wednesday is Karate open house. Luke and Jack are in separate Karate classes, so two separate Karate open houses.
All of this and Gary left to go to Atlanta today. Now ordinarily, this wouldn't be a big deal, except right now I really need his help. Gary will freely admit that his does nothing for Christmas. What he does is keep the kids so that I can get things done. He won't be back until Thursday afternoon.
So, tomorrow after a long day at the museum and 2 karate open houses, I will be lugging the kids to Michael's to get stuff to make a brown owl costume. While I am there I will say "NO" approximately 102 times. I will also threaten to take away tv and video games 3 times. I may have to drag Luke out of the store by his arms while he throws a satanic fit.
A little bumpy right now, but it will be better soon.

I am keeping up with my 31 photos of Christmas. I plan to post them all when they are ready.
