Time to Think About Your One Little Word

Ah, the year is coming to an end. THE YEAR OF TOTAL HELL! Oops, did I say that out loud??

Time to reflect on what was and project on to what will be. Time to think about your One Little Word. In case you don't remember, this is a tradition/project that was made popular by Ali Edwards. You can read more about it here and here. I have participated every year and you can read about those words

I already have my word for 2010. It was really quite easy because I actually adapted the word 4 months ago. So, January 1 when I reveal my new banner, it will showcase my 2010 One Little Word. I'll also be talking more about it in future posts.

So start contemplating that word! I can't wait to hear yours.

Finally Christmas is Over!

I don't mean to be all bah humbug, but it was truly getting to be a bit much. We have partied for an entire week! I am grateful that I have family and friends with whom to celebrate, but I need some kind of normal back. I'm taking my tree down ASAP. I'm ready to get on with it. I told my boys that I was dropping them off at school in the morning. I don't care that school is closed!

I have received some e-mails from some of you that are concerned that I haven't posted in a while. You've read my blog long enough to know that no posts usually means bad news. Nothing could be further from the truth. I decided at the beginning of the month that I would let my December Daily pages be my blog posts for the month. I didn't post them individually. Instead I uploaded them to a photo album located on the right side of this blog. Unfortunately, like most things in my life, I lost control of the December Daily layouts. Things just started getting too busy. I still took pictures, but I have a lot to do to get my album up to date.

So, I've decided that as I finish them, I will upload them AND create a new post for them. Here is the one I made tonight.

 Also, after January 1, a new era begins for Florida State University football and therefore a new banner for my blog. Watch for it.

December Daily 2009

Check out the sidebar on the right. I have added a new category. I am once again doing the December Daily album that Ali Edwards started doing a few years ago. This year it is all digital. Since I can't get into my studio, I want to make sure I still did the album. After the 31 days in December are over, I will have an 8x8 book printed. 

In the course of unpacking all of these boxes, I have run across so many old photos and albums. I LOVE seeing those photos. My boys love it too. This served as an important reminder to me and now I will preach to you. 

Get out there and take pictures and throw them into albums! You don't have to make beautiful scrapbook pages. Get archival quality albums that hold 4x6 photos and just put the photos in the pockets. Those pictures become treasures and not in the most obvious way. You may not really want to remember Aunt Polly's church parties, for example, but the wonderful part is seeing that picture of Aunt Polly and realizing how much you daughter resembles her. You notice your children in the photo and remember them at that age. Memories will come flooding back to you.

Try to write a little about yourself and your family. People used to warn me that I would forget. I didn't believe them, but it is true! I found a journal I kept for Luke when he was a baby. I only wrote a couple of pages every 6 or 8 months, but they told me so much. I now know exactly when he first walked, his favorite foods and words that he said. This stuff is priceless!
